As of the 2019-2020 academic year, our Faculty has “Traditional Turkish Arts; Interior Architecture and Environmental Design; Painting; Ceramics; Cinema and Television” departments, undergraduate art education is provided; Our master’s program named “Art and Design” continues its activities under the roof of the Social Sciences Institute of our University.
Traditional Turkish Arts
The Department of Traditional Turkish Arts started education and training with its first students in the 2020-2021 academic year. Episode; It aims to raise original, conscious, qualified, productive artist candidates who will be able to make designs for the present and the future, who will bring to light the resources that existed in the past in their fields, will take active roles in the daily life and preservation and transfer of them to future generations, free from imitation, original, conscious, qualified and productive. During the education process, scientific research within the scope of Traditional Turkish Arts, determination of art products that are still alive today and disappearing with it, the preservation and development of these art fields by individuals who receive art education, revealing new designs and products, archiving artistic productions to the extent of available resources and systematic evaluation of Turkish cultural heritage.
In addition to the practical workshop courses, students take theoretical courses to support their practical courses. In the first and second semesters of the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, theoretical and practical basic courses are included. In the 3rd and 4th semesters, students are able to develop in their fields with lessons such as “weaving, felt, marbling, calligraphy, gilding”. Starting from the 5th semester, students tend to the fields of their own choosing by concentrating on practical workshop lessons. Graduates of the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts can work as experts, educators and artists in relevant institutions of the Ministry of Culture. In addition, they can work in design and production departments in related factories in the private sector. Graduates can engage in artistic activity; Illumination, Weaving, Marbling, etc. opened in Public Education Centers. can be master instructors in courses.
Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design started education in the 2012-2013 academic year with 60 students, including regular education and evening education. During the 4-year education program, the department trains interior architects who can design creative and livable interiors based on visual perception, offer solutions that combine aesthetics and function, offer comfortable spaces that increase the quality of life for the user, and create close environment design. The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design aims to raise creative individuals equipped in the field of interior architecture and contribute to increasing the importance given to interior design in the society with the theoretical and practical education it provides.
Graduates of the department can work independently as interior architects and environmental designers, as well as work as interior architects and environmental designers in private and public institutions. They take an active role in the interior renovation project, design and implementation stages of existing buildings, from the interior design of any newly designed building. They have the opportunity to work in a wide range of areas, from designing interior fittings to environmental design.
Painting Department
The Department of Painting, which attaches importance to the interaction of different art disciplines, continues its education in a theoretical and practical way, with the support of information that reveals the meaning and connections of contemporary world art, in an environment that will allow the student to develop his own sensitivity and develop his creativity. The artistic formation gained during this period becomes evident in the studies students do until their graduation. The department is open to scientific and philosophical thought, able to comprehend the interaction of art, culture, philosophy, science and technology with historical awareness and age-specific, with an enlightened consciousness, its sensitivity, questioning attitude, reaction to the problems of the age in every field, an original creative has a desire to gain an awareness of the student profile with an identity.
It is carried out by a young and dynamic staff that has integrated the responsibility of applying professional art education with the responsibility of being involved in artistic production, together with the educational processes, methods, philosophy and curriculum content. Graduates have the opportunity to work as freelance artists, painters in private and public institutions, as an art consultant, as an academic staff in education and research institutions related to fine arts, and as a responsible of elective art courses in universities and colleges.
Ceramic Department
Artistic, technological and industrial studies are carried out in the Ceramics Department, which started its education in the 2001-2002 academic year. The department, which primarily aims to develop the creative power of students, provides students with skills and knowledge by introducing them practically with the nature of the ceramic phenomenon, technology and all possible shaping methods. The main purpose is to train ceramic artist candidates and designers needed by the industry.
The Department, which has wide spaces such as clay preparation, casting, plaster mold, free shaping, decor, serigraphy, glazing workshops, technology and computer laboratory, also has different firing facilities that can perform electrical and open firing. Seminars, conferences and study tours are organized for the continuation of the relations of the department with the industry. Graduates can be researchers as well as teachers in their fields; They can work independently or as a designer in ceramic factories.
Cinema and Television Department
The Department of Cinema and Television, which was established with the decision of the Executive Board of the Higher Education Council, dated 13.06.2003 and numbered 1178, received its first students in the 2007-2008 academic year. In the department that admits students with the central examination held by the Student Selection and Placement Center, equal weight is given to the fields of cinema and television. In the curriculum of the department, both theory (Introduction to Communication Science, Research Methods and Techniques, Mass Communication Theories, Turkish Cinema History, World Cinema History etc.) and practice (Film Production, Scriptwriting, Program Production on TV, Fiction Practices, Film Criticism) and analysis etc.), which encourage critical thinking, creative and free expression.
In addition to these, students are expected to submit various applied projects (short films, documentaries, television programs, live broadcasts) during the academic semesters in order to facilitate their employment in the sector. Our graduates are in the cinema and television sectors; They can be employed as director, text and script writer, cinematographer, program producer, program director, editorial director, newsroom director, cameraman, picture chooser, editorial operator, presenter-announcer, editor, journalist, photographer and film critic.
Department of Basic Education
The Department of Basic Education does not admit students and naturally does not graduate. However, it plans and carries out theoretical lessons to be taught in all semesters of education with the practical art lessons of all other departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts in the fall and spring semesters. The department aims to enable students of art to aestheticize all kinds of visuals and to be able to make all kinds of designs, besides original artworks, to increase their knowledge, experience and creativity, to capture contemporary art and to produce works in universal norms.
Other Departments
Academic and physical infrastructure works of our “Industrial Product Design, Sculpture, Communication Design and Graphics” departments are continuing. It is aimed to admit students to these departments after the completion of these studies.
